New Delhi: Amid demands by Hindu outfits to ban alleged objectionable scenes from Aamir Khan starrer film pk, the Censor Board has refused to take any such action.

The film, which hit theatres on December 19, stirred controversy after the religious outfits staged protests, demanding a ban on the movie and removing the scenes to ensure communal harmony.

“Every film may hurt religious sentiments of somebody or the other. We can’t remove scenes unnecessarily because there is something called creative endea-vour where people present things in their own way. We have given a certificate to pk and we can’t remove anything now because it is already out for public viewing,” Leela Samson, chairperson of Censor Board of Film Certification, said.

Yoga guru Ramdev demanded that the movie should be boycotted and all those associated with it “ostracised” from society.

Swami Chakrapani of Hindu Mahasbha alleged that the film’s depiction of ‘gau mata’, Hindu deities like Lord Shiva is an “insult to Sanatan Dharm”.

While the right wing leaders lashed out at Aamir insinuating that he “insulted” Hindu religion because he was a Muslim, the actor has said, “We respect all re-ligions. All my Hindu friends have seen it. They don’t feel the same.”
