Vaikunta Ekadashi: Faith & Fervour

Bengaluru: Thousands of devotees thronged Vishnu temples in the city on the auspicious ‘Vaikunta Ekadashi’ celebrations in the city on Thursday.

As the Holy Thursday fell on New Year, long queues were seen in front of Venkateshwara temples from early morning.

The Vaikunta Dwaram or the door to the sanctum of Lord Vishnu opens on the day of Vaikunta Ekadasi, it is believed. Apart from visiting temples, devotees also fast on this day.

ISKCON temple, Devagiri Sri Venkateshwara temple in Banashankari, Venkateshwara temple in J.P Nagar, Kote Venkataramana temple and Sri Lakshmi Venkateshwara Swamy temple in Thayagarajanagar were specially decorated for the occasion.

As Thursday is also considered auspicious to visit Shrdi Sai Baba, Lord Ganesha and Raghavendra Swamy temples, huge crowds were also seen in front of these temples in the city.
