Hyderabad: A cabbie who flashed his genital at a woman passenger was arrested by the SHE team on Tuesday.

The suspect, Md Saleem, 40, exposed himself while the woman’s parents and relatives were in the car. The victim and her family, who belong to Kerala, had come to Hyderabad for a visit. When they protested against his behaviour, Saleem threw their luggage on the road and fled, police said.

A resident of Pahadishareef, Saleem had been taking the tourists, the woman, her parents and her uncle and aunt, to tourist spots in Hyderabad since two days.

“On the third day at the end of their tour when they were going to the railway station to return to Kerala, the woman was sitting in the front seat, while the others were at the back. When they reached Ramanthapur, the driver unzipped his pants and started showing his genitals to the woman. She started shouting at him and asked him to stop the car. But he did not listen and continued to expose himself,” said additional commissioner of police Swathi Lakra.

“Her relatives made him stop the car. She told her father and uncle what had happened. When they questioned him he tried to drive off with her aunt and mother inside. However, the men snatched the car key and asked him to step out, but he did not. When they got down from the car, Saleem took their luggage, threw it on the road, and fled,” Ms Swathi Lakra added.

The woman and her family contacted the Hyderabad police through WhatsApp and sought action against the cabbie. Police arrested him and charged him with outraging the modesty of a woman.
