ANANTAPUR: The busy market area of Proddatur town in Kadapa district was the site of a murder in broad daylight on Thursday. In a shocking comment on our times, a video of the murder has gone viral on social media. It shows two persons cruelly hacking a third to death while the public just watches.

The murdered man was Maruthi Reddy of Devagudi village in Jammalamadugu of Kadapa district.

Officer on special duty, Kadapa, Satya Esubabu, told the media that the motive for the murder was not political but personal.

Maruthi Reddy’s sister was an anganwadi worker in Proddatur town. She had an affair with one S. Chandrasekhar Reddy from Proddatur. Chandrasekhar Reddy’s two brothers-in-law had quarrelled with Maruthi Reddy and his sister over this.

When Maruthi Reddy went to attend a court case on Thursday, members of the other family, identified from the video as Chandrasekhar Reddy’s brothers-in-law Narrapuram Srinivasa Reddy and Raghunath Reddy, attacked him and hacked him to death with sickles. The police has launched an investigation and formed teams to nab the accused.
