Hyderabad: State Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal said that he had asked the Kurnool collector to give his remarks about the explanation given by YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy regarding his comments about Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. He said after receiving the report he will send it to EC with his remarks.

He said they had received a complaint against CM Naidu regarding the language he had used against Jagan at a meet.

Mr Lal said any person can lodge a complaint via SMS to 9223166166 in the format APMCC < complaint> and the user will get a confirmation message from officials and the user name will be kept secret.

He said that this happened before announcement of the Nandyal by-election schedule. However, he asked for a report from the collector on this issue. He said that complaints are mainly about the language they used in the meetings, he said.

Bhanwar Lal said that he will disclose details very soon. He asked all political leaders and ministers to follow the code of conduct during the Nandyal Assembly by-election and warned that if any one violates the code of conduct the Election Commission will take action.

He said they have set up 300 check posts along the borders of Nandyal Assembly constituency. He said that all the 255 polling stations are sensitive and that the CRPF and APSP will be deployed at all polling stations. Mr Bhanwar Lal said they are arranging live webcasting and videography at all the 255 polling stations.

After withdrawals, 15 candidates are in the fray including candidates of Telugu Desam, YSRC and the Congress. He said polling will be held on August 23 and counting on August 28.

He said for strict monitoring of the model code of conduct and election expenditure 173 flying squads have been formed and that so far Rs 11 lakh have been seized by the police.
