Vijayawada: Temple, cops patch up; Dasara preparations on

Vijayawada: With the curtain falling on the war for dominance between the city police and Kanakadurga temple authorities, arrangements for Dasara celebrations are on.

A coordination committee will hold a meeting to chalk out future course of action. It is expected that around 10 lakh devotees will participate in the celebrations.

The meeting will focus on security measures. Surya Kumari, Kanakadurga temple EO, said, “We are going ahead with the “Devotee First” concept.

The main task is providing easy Darshanam to devotees. There was a difference of opinion among the city police and Kanakadurga temple authorities about first Puja on the occasion of Dasara.

The police commissioner used to offer sarees, turmeric, safforn, Bangles to goddess Kanakadurga as part of this.

The temple authorities objected to this. Surya Kumari, however, ruled out any rift between the police and temple management..

The police department is ready to extend their support to make the Dasara celebrations a grand success, she said.

Surya Kumari also said that the authorities are planning to set up five queue lines to help devotees.
