130 barbers told to stop work by TTD

TIRUPATI: TTD has denied 130 barbers to conduct their duties for illegally collecting money from devotees for tonsuring their heads. TTD officials on Wednesday have strictly denied these barbers from tonsuring devotees’ heads. The barbers have met JEO K.S. Srinivasa Raju and have questioned him about the notice. They want an explanation on why the TTD officials did this without prior notice.

The JEO explained that the list is not considered for a long period of time. Even the TTD has had the list for the past couple of years. They have taken the list of barbers who collected money from pilgrims from the month of May this year. The JEO also said that they will again get permission to work within a few days. This is just disciplinary action. TTD officials are monitoring CCTV cameras to keep a check on illegal activities.
