N Chandrababu Naidu sets stone for rotary flyover in Vizag

Visakhapatnam: AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu laid the foundation stone for a first-of-its-kind double-rotary intersection flyover at NAD junction on Tuesday. The construction firm Vijay Nirman will build the flyover on engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) basis at a cost of `113 crore and it will be completed in next 18-24 months, he said.

This flyover will ease the traffics woes at NAD junction. The lower level of the flyover will be meant for heavy vehicles, while light motor vehicles will travel from the upper level, and pedestrians will move from four sides. The Chief Minister has laid the foundation stone for the Tu-142 aircraft museum project on the beach road opposite to the INS Kurusura submarine museum. The government has big plans to start several tourism projects in the city to attract the tourists.

“Tourism sector is one of the important sectors that create employment and economic development in the state. Having long beaches over 30 km till Bheemunipatnam, there is a huge scope to develop tourism projects in the city,” Mr Naidu said. He said that the aircraft museum would be completed by December and would be inaugurated by President Ram Nath Kovind. Tourism minister Bhooma Akhila Priya said the department had spent Rs 10 crore to set up the aircraft museum and more projects were in the pipeline.

The government has decided to spend Rs 1,000 crore to set up decommissioned warship INS Virat in the city as part of tourism projects, she said. The naval technological experts and engineers have dismantled the aircraft at the airport with 50 parts and transported it to the museum site on the Beach Road and refit the aircraft.
