Hyderabad: In a brutal incident, a 23-month-old toddler was mowed down by a speeding cab under the Saroornagar police station limits on Thursday morning. As seen in the CCTV footage, the boy was crossing the road when a speeding car rammed into him and dragged him to a distance, injuring him gravely. The child later succumbed to injuries in the hospital.

The boy was identified as Jaswanth, a resident of Madhava Nagar Colony in Saroor Nagar. The incident occurred around 8.45 am on Thursday when the boy was crossing road in Madhava Nagar. “The boy had gone to a local shop with his uncle to buy toffees. His uncle left him at the shop after buying him the toffees. The boy then stepped down from the shop and crossed the road alone when the speeding cab driver dashed him from behind,” said the police.

The boy was rushed to a local private hospital by his parents and was later shifted to Niloufer Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Police has booked a case under section 304A (death by negligence) against the absconding driver.
