Coastal Andhra Pradesh may receive heavy rains from December 8

Visakhapatnam: The well-marked low-pressure area formed over the southeast Bay of Bengal since some days has concentrated into a deep depression on Wednesday. The system which is very likely to intensify into deep depression may move northwestwards and reach Andhra Pradesh coast around December 8 evening triggering heavy rain at isolated places in all the districts of coastal Andhra Pradesh.

As per weathermen, light rains are expected over North Andhra Pradesh coast and Odisha by December 7 which will intensify on December 8 and 9. On December 8 and 9 strong winds of 40 to 50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph are expected to blow over Odisha and Andhra Pradesh coast. Sea will become rough during this period and hence fishermen and locals are advised not to venture out in the sea.

The well-marked low-pressure area over southeast Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood lay centred at about 1160 km to the southeast of Machilipatnam and 1250 km south-southeast of Gopalpur on Wednesday. However, IMD predicts that there is a probability of slight weakening of the system when it reaches near Andhra Pradesh coast. Unfavourable weather conditions such as high vertical wind shear and cooler sea surface temperatures could weaken the system. Mainly low-level Easterlies prevail over the state.
