Chennai: Opposition DMK staged a walkout from the Tamil Nadu Assembly after Speaker P Dhanapal disallowed its members from raising the transfer of senior IAS officer V K Jeyakodi as Vigilance Commissioner.

After the Question Hour, Opposition Leader M K Stalin raised the issue of transfer of Jeyakodi, who was overseeing the probe into Gutkha scam in which Health Minister C Vijayabhaskar and senior police officials are alleged to have been involved.

At this, Speaker P Dhanapal told Stalin that he cannot raise an issue which is pending in the country. However, Stalin continued with his speech and when Speaker objected again, he led his party to stage a walkout.
