Hyderabad: The Mirchowk police on Wednesday arrested one person for allegedly extracting oil from animal flesh and selling it in the market. The police seized three cans containing 13 litres of oil, two gas cylinders, one gas stove and other articles.

According to the police, the prime accused, Mohammed Ghouse, 46, along with his relatives were melting animal fat and processing it to extract oil.

“He sold it to food centres, push carts selling junk foods and few cottage industries involved in preparing soaps,” said Mr B. Anand, ACP Mirchowk.

A case was filed under Sections 269, 278, 290, 420, 272, 273 and 188 IPC.
