YSRC leader takes a low dig at N Chandrababu Naidu

GUNTUR: The YSRC, completely ignorant of civility as well as medical realities, crossed all limits and took a low dig at Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday.

Party official spoke-sperson Ambati Rambabu said AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu cannot wear wristwatches or jewell-ery due to a skin-related disease. “He is cu-rsed against using jewellery but is misleading the public by posing about shunning wristwatch, rings and gold chains,” Mr Rambabu told a YSRC political tr-aining programme for booth-level committee incharges at Guntur.

The reference was to Mr Naidu’s statement that he shuns jewellery and prefers to live a simple life.

Asked about Mr Ram-babu’s low and ignora-nt jibe, Dr K. Venkatac-halam, secretary of the AP chapter of the Der-matology Association, said, “Vitiligo is an au-to-immune disease like thyroid. It has nothing to do with any wearab-les. There are many wo-men who have this disease and wear orname-nts and metals. There is no reaction of the metals with the skin.”

Dr Shobha Gupta, senior dermatologist, said, “The disease star-ts in some people in a small area and spreads. Whatever discomfort is felt is from within and has nothing to do with the outside as it is caused by faulty genes. There are false beliefs that it is contagious which is not the case.”

YSRC MPs resignations likely to be accepted, bypolls unlikely

While an official ann-ouncement is awaited, five YSRC MPs sa-id that Lok Sabha Spe-aker Sumitra Mahaj-an had agreed to acce-pt their resignations.

However, bypolls for the seats are unlikely as the general electio-ns are just a year aw-ay. As per precedence, the Election Commis-sion doesn’t hold bypolls within a year of the scheduled general elections.

The MPs — Y.V. Su-bba Reddy, Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, V. Vara Prasad, Peddire-ddy Midhun Reddy and Y.S. Avinash Red-dy — met Ms Mahajan and once again press-ed for the acceptance of their resignations.

Ms Mahajan on Wed-nesday asked the MPs to submit reconfirmation letters of their resignations. All the five MPs have later in the day submitted the letters.

An official communiqué from the Lok Sabha Speaker’s office on the acceptance of the resignations is expected in a day or two.
