Woman with 1.5 crore riyals caught at RGIA airport

Hyderabad: Security officials at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad caught a woman passenger while she was carrying Saudi Riyal 1,50,000 early on Thursday.

According to the officials, the woman, identified as Nusrath Jahan, was about to fly to Dubai with the currency.

At the baggage screening point, the officials found some suspicious items and a thorough checking of the passenger’s baggage the concealed foreign currency was found.

The foreign currency is worth Rs 30 lakh. The official alerted the customs intelligence team and counted the foreign currency in the presence of customs Air Intelligence Unit team and found that the currency is 1,25,500 Saudi riyals worth Rs 22,94,000. The passenger along with seized foreign currency has been handed over to the Customs Department.
