Bengaluru: A 25-year-old accountant misbehaved and manhandled a traffic police sub-inspector on duty after he was stopped for violating traffic norms, while the police were regulating traffic to allow Deputy Chief Minister Dr G. Parameshwar’s convoy to pass, on August 3.

According to the RMC Yard (Law & order) police, the accused, identified as Rama, a resident of Subramaniya Nagar, was riding a bullet motorcycle and was coming from the wrong side.When he was flagged down by the traffic cops on duty and told to wait for the Deputy Chief Minister’s cavalcade to pass, Rama roughed up PSI Venkatesh.





A senior traffic police official told Deccan Chronicle, the incident took place around 9.45 am. “The traffic was being regulated to allow deputy chief minister’s convoy, heading towards Tumakuru, to pass. Rama, who was coming from G.G. Palya and was heading towards RMC Yard. Despite being stopped, he took the one way and came from opposite direction. When he was stopped by the North division traffic police’s team, including the Assistant Sub-Inspector and Police Sub-inspector Venkatesh, Rama abused him. He then pushed him and said, I will get you suspended. You don’t know who I am,”

The senior police officer further told this newspaper that the PSI then approached his higher-ups and under their guidance registered a complaint with the RMC Yard law & Order police.

Another police officer said that Rama, not only misbehaved with the Venkatesh, he also threw around his weight allegedly claiming to be associated with influential people and also misbehaved with a woman traffic police inspector.

Based on the complaint filed by Police Sub-inspector traffic Venkatesh, the RMC Yard police booked Rama for obstructing a public servant while discharging his duties. He was later produced before a magistrate.
