Vijayawada: AP’s new Governor Biswa Bhushan Harichandan will take the oath of office to be administered by acting Chief Justice of AP Chagari Praveen Kumar on July 24 at 11.30 am.

On July 23, the Governor will fly from Bhubaneswar in Odisha to Tirumala to have a darshan of lord Venkateswara at the temple and offer prayers and then proceed to Vijayawada to take the oath of office the next day.

Meanwhile, the state government is renovating the old irrigation circle office located at Suryaraopeta which was later used as the CM’s Camp Office to develop it as a Raj Bhavan to accommodate the office of the AP Governor and his official residence. The ground floor will be used for office purposes while the first floor in the building will be used as the residence.

Mr Harichandan is a senior BJP leader from Odisha. He started his political career by joining Bharatiya Jana Sangh in 1971.

The state government issued an order appointing tribal welfare secretary Mukesh Kumar Meena as the secretary to the Governor in the capacity of full additional charge.
