Stop cribbing and get productive!

A recent survey by MoveInSync — an office commute automation firm revealed that the office time travel in Bengaluru has risen by 6 per cent. Here are a few tips of how to keep yourself occupied during your commute to work and not let the traffic get to you.

Most of them who travel to work at local peak hours are aware that they’re going to spend around and hour to two only in the hustling traffic. There are times when the traffic can just get to you and you’d wish that you’d rather work from home than stress out on these busy streets. But, that may not be a pragmatic option, in most cases. Let’s stop whining about the traffic and follow a few of these tips of how you can make use of this travel time and turn it productive.
If you’re on the back seat and you’re pretty much a robot when you get to work then you can catch up with the news.

Ravi Sanjeevi, vice president of a leading firm said, “The traffic in the city is terrible and it just gets to me. I am someone who loves to be on top of the news. So, I carry my newspapers in hand and read through my journey to work.

This helps me improve my ambit of knowledge and I can have a rational conversation with anybody about any topic under the sun. At times if I’ve forgotten to take the newspaper, I just surf the Internet on my phone and watch news live streams or read the online version of newspapers.”

If you are a working mother and you just do not have time for yourself in the mornings then here’s the best way for you to deal with your hectic mornings.

Poornima Suresh, a secretary at a leading multinational firm said, “Weekday mornings are the most stressful time of the day, from cooking to packing lunches I do not get the time to unwind or rejuvenate from the previous day. The only time I get for myself is during my commute to work and at this time I prefer listening to soft music and I do my pranayama (a breathing exercise). This helps me calm down and prepare for the day ahead at work.”

Opening a hoard of emails once you get to work can be strenuous and especially, you could lose a good rapport you’ve maintained with a client or colleague if you do not respond to their emails.

Ashwini Mohan, an employee at a leading firm said, “A smart worker will always try to make the best use of any free time they get before reaching work. My commute to work is a rough hour and I use this time to go through my emails. This makes it easy for me to get to work and start because I know the tasks for the day and can finish it with ease. I make it a priority to ensure all my work mails are read and responded to.”
