2020 to be the year of SUVs for Mercedes-Benz

With electric vehicles (EVs) being the key word in the automobile sector, Mercedes-Benz has announced its foray into the segment. Besides, 2020 is a year of SUVs for the luxury car-maker globally and in India. The company will launch 10 new cars across segments.

Launching the GLC Coupe (two variants, 300d 4MATIC diesel and 300 4MATIC petrol, priced at Rs 63.70 lakh and Rs 62.70 lakh, respectively) in Bengaluru on Tuesday, Mercedes-Benz MD and CEO, Martin Schwenk said customer demand for EVs as well as infrastructure for the segment will develop in India.

"We assume electric will be a major topic that will happen in India in future and we will play a major part in that," he added.

With the roll-out of the GLC Coupe, Mercedes-Benz has now added the 10th global product in its local production portfolio in India.

SUVs have been the flavour of the season and Mercedes-Benz has come up with successive launches of the G 350d, the GLC and the New LWB GLE..

With the new GLC Coupe, Mercedes-Benz will now have seven SUVs in its portfolio (GLA, GLC, GLC Coupé, GLE, GLE Coupé, GLS, G-Class).
