An arrest has been made for the murder of Hiawayi Robinson, an eight-year old from Prichard, Alabama who was slain in September. Daily Mail reports that her father, Hiawatha Robinson, was arrested Tuesday on charges of murder and sodomy in his daughter's death, according to the FBI and records from Mobile County Metro Jail.

FBI Special Agent Jessica Foran said Hiawatha Robinson faces state charges of murder and sodomy in the death. Family members reported Hiawayi Robinson missing on Sept. 16. Two days later, the third-grader's body was found behind an abandoned building on Rebel Road. Autopsy results showed the girl had been sexually assaulted. The judge appointed a defense attorney for Robinson but the man didn't enter a plea to the charges.The father participated in searches for his daughter after she went missing in September.

Authorities have released few details on their investigation. Mobile County District Attorney Ashley Rich was expected to reveal more at a press conference scheduled at 4 p.m. Tuesday. State Rep. Napoleon Bracy (D-Prichard), who helped lead the search for the missing girl, expressed dismay at the news.

On October 2, authorities served a search warrant at Hiawatha Robinson's home. Three weeks later, on October 20, authorities booked Hiawayi Robinson's mother, Yosha Populus, into Mobile County Metro Jail on one count of violating her probation. She was released from jail on Octobrt 24 after a federal judge declined to revoke her probation. Hundreds attended funeral services for the Hiawayi Robinson, held on Sept. 27.
