Subhash Ghai set several tongues wagging after his picture with controversial godwoman Radhe Maa went viral. The spiritual leader was booked for alleged involvement in a dowry harassment case few weeks ago. However this didn't deter faith in the filmmaker and he maintained that, "We have never experienced any such kind of indecent act or atmosphere as being talked about in society today."

Several other celebrities seek solace in spiritual gurus, many of whom have been involved in controversies. Shilpa Shetty was an ardent follower of The Art of Living before becoming a firm believer in Oneness University. She frequently visits Chennai to seek guidance of her guru Kalki Bhagavan. The actress, on several occasions has praised their teachings and said they have a scientific basis.

Hrithik Roshan who also is a firm believer in the Oneness University has often said that he has become much calmer and happier in life. However, the university had come under the public scanner a few years ago for misuse of public funds and illegal occupation of land for an ashram in Chittoor.

Lara Dutta not only attends the spiritual discourses of Ravi Shankar but also turned instructor for the foundation in 2008. She even went ahead to launch youth service projects in different countries.

Mahesh Bhatt joined the ashram of Shree Rajneesh who drew criticism for 'irregular activities' including drug use at Pune ashram. He even got into trouble for his views on sex, marriage, homosexuality to name a few. Interestingly, he was also tagged as 'sex guru' at one point of time.

Parveen Babi too followed Shree Rajneesh. After drawing flak, the spiritual leader eventually changed his views. He even flew to the US but was charged with immigration violation. He later died in 1990.

Shahid Kapoor and his father Pankaj are firm believers of Radha Soami and its through him that Shahid met the love of his life, Mira Rajput. Radha Soami Satsang Baes have had their own share of controversies. Apparently, the organisation had demolished the Sikh Gurudwara Sahib to expland the Dera land and was even accused of illegally grabbing village lands.

Swami Vinod Bharti aka Vinod Khanna turned sanyasi and also took up gardening at Rajneeshpuram. He has been a regular at the Osho ashram in US since a couple of decades.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is a follower of Sathya Sai Baba, who claims to be a reincarnation of Sai Baba Shirdi. The spiritual guru has been accused of sexual abuse, commiting fraud and even performing fake miracles. But this didn't alter faith in his devotees who still stand by him.

Dia Mirza is an ardent follower of Art of Living guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. She claims that the gentle yet firm guidance helped her embrace the course, thereby changing her life forever.
