Mumbai: If 2013 was a turning-point for the talented young actor Amit Sadh, 2014 proved to be the year of consolidation . While in 2014 he signed some solid projects to back up the stardom that he obtained with Kai Po Che , Amit also fractured his leg while shooting for Subhash Ghai’s Guddu Rangeela.

“Boy, what a break!’ Amit puns and laughs. “The film was god-sent. Imagine, I got to play the title role in a film directed by Subhash Kapoor who made one my favourite films in recent times Jolly LLB. And I got to share screen space with one of my favourite actors Arshad Warsi. I couldn’t ask for more.”

God heard him, and Amit ended up in bed—alone—with a fractured leg.

Says Amit. “Believe me, those six weeks when I was confined to the bed were a time of great introspection for me. I saw lots of films. My producers of Guddu Rangeela looked after me like their own child.I’ve always been a loner. But I realized that this entertainment industry has earned an unfair reputation for callousness. I believe you get as good as you give.”

Guddu Rangeela is all set for a 27 February release. Amit will have three releases in 2015 and none in 2014.

“Believe me, I am not the last insecure about having no release in 2014. It’s the people around who keep reminding me that I’ve not been seen on screen in 2014. I’ve been shooting for three films and I can tell you this much. I’d rather do three films like Runningshaadi.com, Guddu Rangeela and Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Yaaraa in two years than six chalta hai films in a year.”

In Yaaraa Amit gets to age from his 20s to the 60s. “It was quite a challenge. But I think my director Tigmanshu Dhulia is satisfied with what we’ve achieved.”

Looking back at the year Amit says, “Apart from the leg injury it’s been all smooth-sailing for me.More than anything else I regained the selfconfidence that I had lost over the years though my prolonged struggle.”

About his next release Runningshaadi.com, Amit is all praise for his co-star Tapsi Pannu. “Believe me, she is going to storm the industry after this film. I am not saying this just for effect...But she’s an amazingly spontaneous performer.”

For himself , Amit feels he has a long way to go. “There is a hunger within me to get better. I don’t think that anxiety about whether I’ve performed well or not will ever go away. I remember seeing an interview of Johnny Depp with David Letterman where he spoke about the hunger for excellence. I want to continue feeling that hunger.”

Amit says he remains single after his breakup with his long-standing girlfriend Neeru Bajwa. “It’s not as if I shun a relationship or have become cynical about love. It’s just that I haven’t found the time lately to exoplore matters of the heart. I am open to a relationship. But at the moment I’d rather focus on my career.I am dubbing these days for Guddu Rangeela. I get up at 5 am , dub the whole day and am asleep by 10 pm. It’s a very boring life for the outsider but very exciting for me. I’ve struggled hard to get where I am. I haven’t quite got where I want to as yet. But I’m getting there.”
