Rakul Preet Singh to further Telangana’s girl child cause

It looks like the Telangana government is keen to rope in Telugu celebrities for their development programmes. In the same light, they recently announced actress Rakul Preet Singh as the brand ambassador for the state’s Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao programme.

Expressing her excitement about the new role, the actress tweeted, “Extremely honoured to b d brand ambassador of Telangana 4 d #Betibachaobetioadhao campaign. Let the change begin (sic).”

Interestingly, the government had also named actress Samantha Akkineni as the brand ambassador of Telangana Handlooms earlier this year. And, even for the Telangana chapter of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the state appointed actress Manchu Lakshmi as its brand ambassador in January this year.

It is quite commendable that the government is banking on the celebrities’ fame to create a better India.
