CHILLAM full of Manoranjan

With high expectations, this son of a star actor, has managed to win over the audience with his performance in Saheba, which was his debut venture. He then showcased his versatility in his second outing — Bruhaspathi though it failed at the box office. Junior Crazy Star Manoranjan Ravichandran returns with his third film in a completely new avatar as a drug peddler in lady director Chandrakala’s new venture Chillam. An action thriller starring senior actors Raghavendra Rajkumar, who returns to the big screen after 13 years, senior actress Saritha, Nana Patekar and others, the film has already created a buzz in the industry.

Apart from his most-anticipated movie, Manoranjan talks about his star family, his preparations for the role and more in an exclusive interview with Bengaluru Chronicle.

“It has been almost five months since I took up Chillam. The day the director read the script to me, I said yes. The director Chandrakala Maam made a few changes at the end, and we are all set to start shooting in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, I was working on the look for my character. Alongwith a flourishing beard, I had to put on 6 kg for the role. After my first two films, I was told by many that I looked too young, so for Chillam, I worked on looking mature,” says Manoranjan Ravichandran.

He further reveals that his father Crazy Star Ravichandran believes in learning through one’s mistakes, thus does not interfere in his son’s selection of movies.

“Dad does not listen to the story, and I solely take a call on my films. So far, I have been doing it based on intuition. My first movie received mixed reviews, and the second one failed at the box office. Instead of rising to stardom and falling flat, it has been a slow and steady learning experience for me,” adds the actor.

Beyond expectations and films, Manoranjan shares about his days as a youngster. “As a youngster, I have enjoyed life in the best possible manner, and have experienced some of the finest memories, travels and luxuries anyone can aspire for as a youth. Hence, I do not miss those comforts now that I have taken to films. I do find some time for friends whom I meet on alternate days,” he says, adding that he is a big Badminton buff and plays regularly at his friend’s apartment. He also likes spending time with family.

“Though my father is always there, I am more attached to my mother. She is my biggest strength. I always run to her when in need. She cries if I am on a diet. But when I am not working in films, I just cannot keep away from the biryani and chilly chicken she cooks. They are the best,” he says.

The actor cannot wait to share the screen space with the senior actors in Chillam and believes that it was possible to work with such names thanks to the director’s belief and hardwork.
