Samantha won’t quit films: Naga Chaitanya

Naga Chaitanya has decided to throw his weight behind debutant director Rahul Ravindran’s upcoming film Chi La Sow. “This is the first time I took a decision to back a film,” says Naga Chaitanya, on taking the initiative. Adds Chay, “Rahul Ravindran is a very close friend of Samantha’s. Both started their careers with a Tamil film in which they acted together. So when Rahul first narrated the story to us, we gave our inputs. Now that he has completed the film, he asked us to watch it. It is a love story between two strangers, both of whom are above 30 years of age. The entire story revolves around just two days.”

Praising the debutant’s effort, Chay says, “I liked the movie and asked my father (Nagarjuna) to watch the film. He liked it too.”

However, the actor is quick to clarify that he didn’t support the film on account of his personal ties. “When Rahul discussed the film with us, Sushanth (Chay’s cousin) was not even the lead actor,” clarifies Chaitanya, adding that Rahul did not ask him or Samantha to act in the film.

“He only discussed his ideas with us,” says Chaitanya, who was so impressed with Rahul’s direction that he gave him an advance amount to direct his next two films with Annapurna Studios.

Dismissing all rumours of wife Samantha quitting films, Chay says, “Sam won’t quit films as she is busy with many projects presently. She may take a break, but she won’t quit now.”

The couple will soon be seen in a film directed by Shiva Nirvana. “The director insisted that he wanted both of us in the film. The subject deals with a couple after their marriage, so we thought it was suitable for us,” shares Chay.

The young actor reveals that he shares all his film projects and stories with Sam. “Just like my father, Sam is very frank in her opinions,” says Chaitanya, admitting that his father Nagarjuna watches all his films before release and gives his suggestions. “My father always watches my films and gives his opinion. I am even ready to reshoot at times if he asks me to,” he shares.

Meanwhile, both of Chay’s upcoming films — Savyasachi and Sailaja Reddy Alludu are nearing completion. “Sailaja Reddy Alludu bears similarity to my father’s film Allari Alludu and it’s a fun family entertainer,” he says.
