Nimisha has her plate full

Seldom do new actors get a character that gives a fitting entry into the Malayalam movie industry. Nimisha Sajayan is one promising artiste who had an admirable debut as the character Sreeja in Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum. The movie went onto win several laurels and her performance was widely appreciated by the critics and audience. Her substance as an actor was further substantiated by her performance as Aishwarya in Eeda.

Nimisha will be next seen in Oru Kuprasidha Payyan, directed by Madhupal. The movie also stars Tovino Thomas and Anu Sithara. She dons the role of Hanna Elizabeth in the movie. “Hanna is a representation of girls who struggle to get an identity in their jobs after completing studies. She struggles to survive in a male-dominated workplace. She goes through a lot to create an identity at work,” Nimisha says about her character in the movie.

The movie also gave her the chance to work with senior artistes like Nedumudi Venu and Siddique. Nimisha had a majority of combination scenes with them and states that she was tense initially.

“Siddique ikka and Nedumudi sir really made me comfortable while acting. Nedumudi sir helped me a lot in improvising. Siddique ikka asked me not to bother about the number of takes, just be relaxed and act.”

She has also completed shooting for Soumya Sadanandan's Mangalyam Thanthu Nanena, where she plays a peppy character called Clara, opposite Kunchacko Boban. The movie that is said to be a comedy-family satire excites her so much as she plays a completely different character when compared to her other movies. “I play the wife of Chackochan's character Roy. What to say, Clara has the traits of a typical wife. It's one character I enjoyed doing and will definitely make the audience laugh a lot. She is really adipoli.”

Next in her kitty is Sanal Kumar Sasidharan's Chola starring Joju George. She affirms her character is a diverse one and the rest can be seen on screen. Nimisha is a passionate dancer and also tries her hand at drawing. “Chola’s shooting was set in a forest and I collected many stones from there. Now I'm trying my drawing skills on them.” She loves to do roles with stuff. Manju Warrier's Bhanu and Shobhana's Ganga in Manichitrathazhu are characters she is in awe of. “People still recognise me as the thondi. I tell them that I'm the driksakshi,” she quips.
