Sushant’s swansong

After Sushant Singh Rajput’s unfortunate death, the producers of the film Dil Bechara and the OTT platform which will show the film now, are thinking of ways to showcase the actor’s swansong properly.

For starters, an announcement was to be made on Tuesday about the 10 films acquired by Disney Hotstar and which included Dil Bechara a.k.a Kizzy aur Manny. But now, not only have they postponed the event for the coming week at an indefinite date, but they are also looking at announcing and showcasing Dil Bechara properly to the world as Sushant’s last movie.

“They cannot be packing it with other movies and announcing them together. They will now be giving it a lot of importance because Sushant was a loved actor and a young rising star. It is not a good idea to club that film now with the others. It should have been released last year but was getting postponed for some reason or the other. It would have released now had it not been for the lockdown. But it will now be put out for the world with full honours,” says an industry source.

Dil Bechara is a remake of Fault in Our Stars and features Sanjana Sanghi and Saif Ali Khan along with Sushant. It has been directed by casting maverick turned director Mukesh Chhabra who is, incidentally, among Sushant’s inner circle.
