R Ashwin, Harsha Bhogle condemn stone-pelting incident on Australia team bus

Guwahati: Team India all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has slammed the stone pelting incident on the Australia team bus on Wednesday as David Warner and team were returning back to the hotel following their eight-wicket win against Virat Kohli-led Indian side.

The visitors stunned the Men in Blue during the 2nd T20I in Guwahati, to level the three-match series. However, while returning to the hotel from the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, the team received a major scare as a rock shattered the window pane of the team bus.

Ashwin took to Twitter on Wednesday and called for everyone to act in a more responsible, stating the incident put the nation in a bad light.

“The stone thrown at the Aussie team bus shows us in bad light, let's all act more responsibly. A vast majority of us are capable of that,” the India spinner tweeted.

The incident is doing the rounds on social media after Aaron Finch, Australian opener, posted an image from the scene. Thankfully, all the team members and the support staff were all unhurt.

“Pretty scary having a rock thrown through the team bus window on the way back to the hotel,” Finch wrote on Twitter.

Meanwhile, Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma issued an apology to the visiting team, insisting strict action would be taken against the guilty.

“Our deep apology. People of Assam never endorse such behaviour. We will punish the guilty,” Biswa stated.

I saw so many simple, happy faces in Guwahati. Guess the idiot who threw the stone on the Aussie team bus was hiding among them. Not done.
