The Royal Challengers Bangalore have finally made a move that might change
Posted September 1st, 2018, 10:09 AM IST
Despite making it to the finals thrice, RCB has had several dismal seasons including the 2017 one. With the IPL trophy eluding the team with a loyal fanbase, will Gary Kirsten be the change that we’ve been looking for all along?
“I feel this is going to be one of the biggest moves by RCB in creating history. Giving Gary complete freedom to mentor will help RCB build their strategies with a different perspective, as we know that he’s not new to Indian pitches. He has also mentored the Indian team in the 2011 World Cup and knows the conditions here, in and out. With the current squad, new mentorship and new strategies will definitely pull in new energy in the team,” says RCB diehard supporter Bhumika Girish, who adds that a lot of RCB fans were awaiting this news. “This is the change that aficionados of RCB were looking for, and it’s here. Now, no one can stop us from saying Ee Sala Cup Namdhe,” she smiles.
A huge section of RCB followers are thrilled with the management’s decision to have the India’s former head coach take over the job from Vettori. Operations manager Vittal Shanbhag says, “Kirsten could very well be the change RCB has been looking
for. He was the head coach of Team India when we lifted the WC in 2011. He has been coaching teams across the Big Bash League and other leagues which will help us in scouting good foreign talent. Kirsten and Kohli have worked together since 2011 and it’s about time they lift another cup together in 2019.”
Student Vaishnavi K, who was hoping to hear big news from team RCB is relieved with the huge change that’s been made. “Vettori wasn’t too impressive as head coach, and even in the auctions, we didn’t see him make great decisions. It’s about time for us to let go of him. I just hope that Kirsten will gaurantee us a fantastic season next year,” she says.
Will Kirsten be the reason for us to go ‘MSCN’ (Mundhin Sala Cup Namdhe)? Let’s hope for the best!
