Star-studded gala event
Posted April 30th, 2022, 10:23 AM IST
A galaxy of stars were present at Amazon’s announcement of over 40 titles.
Karan Johar was the host of the event. Shahid Kapoor, Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi, Raashi Khanna and filmmakers Krishna and DK made an appearance.
Sonakshi arrived riding a motorbike as she does in her OTT debut Dahaad.
The celebrities did not say much over the mic, and in fact, Fatima Sana Shaikh was upset that she did not get to speak when Modern Love Mumbai was announced.
Madhuri Dixit, who shifted to Amazon with Maja MA after her recent Netflix outing with The Fame Game, danced at the launch.
Abhishek Bachchan replaced Karan as the host for a bit and also announced his return with the third part of Breathe. Ajay Devgn, Farhan Akhtar and Karan also announced licensing deals of their films with the platform.
Kangana Ranaut was present, but refused to get ‘up close and personal’, joking, “It is Covid time. No hugging or kissing please.”
In a fitting finale, Rohit Shetty drove on stage in a jeep with Sidharth Malhotra to announce his show Indian Police Force. When Karan asked Rohit if he had a cop role for him, Rohit’s reply was "Are you serious?"
