Oscars 2023: Reason For Rajamouli Sitting Near Exit
Posted March 14th, 2023, 10:24 AM IST
Rajamouli and his wife Rama were seen sitting in the last row near the exit when Naatu Naatu was announced as the winner.
The video that went viral displays SS Rajamouli and his team celebrating boisterously after Naatu Naatu was declared the winner.
Rajamouli's wife and two others were with him while Ram Charan, his wife Upasana and Jr NTR were not present. The video also shows Rajamouli and his team heading towards the stage after the announcement of the winner.
After the video was circulated on the internet, many social media users were drawn to another aspect of the footage. They questioned why SS Rajamouli and his team were seated near the exit at the end of the row.
Some took it as an insult.
“This back is where @ssrajamouli is seated while #DeepikaPadukone is seated in front. Sheesh !! This is insulting," one of the Tweets read.
“It’s a disgrace why RRR team is sitting at back,” a comment on The Hollywood Reporter’s post read.
“How do you place them at the very back if you know they’re going to win?” a third comment read.
However, it should be clarified that Rajamouli and his team were not the winners of the award.
The winners were Keeravani and Chandrabose who were given front seats, along with a seat each for one family member. Similarly, Deepika Padukone was also given a front seat as she was invited as a presenter.
Rahul Sipligunj and Kalabhairava were allowed inside the hall as they were the performers on the dais. But they were not seen around once their part is over.
Despite Rajamouli being a renowned director in India, he was just like any other spectator in the Oscar hall.
As for Ram Charan, Upasana, and Jr NTR, they were not seen in the hall as they did not receive passes for the event.
The RRR team was only given a fixed number of passes for the winners and one seat each for their respective family members.
The Oscar committee follows strict rules and does not rely on popularity or recommendations like in Indian award functions.
Furthermore, the Oscar event has a limited number of seats available and people are only allowed inside based on the availability of seats.
It is not like in India where people can stand, lean on the wall, or sit on the shoulders of others to watch the show.
