BO: Bangarraju Underperforms in the US

Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya starrer “Bangarraju” took the box-office by storm in Andhra Pradesh. Surpassing the expectations, the entertainer set the collections ringing in all centers in the state.

On Sunday, more theaters were added to meet the demand. Such was the craze in Andhra Pradesh for the film.

Nagarjuna’s calculations about “Bangarraju” proved to be right about the domestic market. But overseas, all his estimation went wrong.

First and foremost, the film suffered on the premiere day itself as the content was not delivered in time. So, it missed the chance to clinch an impressive number from premiere shows.

Due to reviews and word-of-mouth, it suffered badly in the USA. The first weekend’s collections are pretty low. It raked in a mere about #200k+ an entire weekend.

Remember Naga Chaitanya’s “Love Story” grossed 300k dollars from premiere shows, and Akhil’s “Most Eligible Bachelor” collected $228 from premiere shows alone.

Bangarraju: Premiere: $39,428 Fri: $66,753 Sat: $71,534 Sun: $40k (apprx) Weekend Gross: $220k (apprx)

The other two new films “Rowdy Boys” and “Hero” stood no chance at the box-office, as both the films raked in below 10k dollars each in the first weekend.
