Mumbai: In an unprecedented 'PK' blitz, almost all cinema halls are screening the Aamir Khan-starrer movie which released on December 19. The film is already creating box office records. But Prabhat Talkies in Pune has presented audience with a unique choice. The single-screen theatre is running shows of Ritesh Deshmukh's debut film 'Tujhe Meri Kasam' along with Rajkumar Hirani 'Pk'. A visibly excited Ritesh Deshmukh tweeted, "Wow my debut film 'Tujhe Meri Kasam' playing with PK." The film which released in 2003, marked the debut of Ritesh Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza, who are now married and proud parents to one-month old Riaan.

While fans are flocking theaters to watch Aamir Khan enact the role of an alien, Prabhat Talkies has decided to give the audience a fair option by pricing both the films at Rs 60 and Rs 40, which is almost half of what any multiplex ticket for the same movie would cost. The show timings span across the day for both the movies. Interestingly, a few single-screens in Mumbai decided not to show ‘PK’ . The producers locked horns with single screen operators after the latter refused to charge a premium on tickets.

Mohammed Sheikh, the manager at Prabhat Talkies explains the decision to screen ‘Tujhe Meri Kasam’, “ We took a conscious decision to screen the film since there are many Riteish Deshmukh fans in part of the town. We also screen other old Bollywood movies from time to time. We are one of the oldest single-screen theaters in Pune, known for screening films for over 40 years.”

Deshmukh's debut film which was soared at the box office is screened in December every year at Prabhat Talkies. “ Tujhe Meri Kasam is already in its second week and we ran house full shows for the entire first week. There is an audience demand for this film. We are expecting a lower turnout this week, but fans keep coming back to watch it,” explained, the manager.

While the collection figures were not available, with a good turnout and screenings on demand every year, looks like ‘Tujhe Meri Kasam’ is headed the DDLJ way.
