Sarita Devi ban: Sports Ministry of India asks AIBA to be lenient on boxer

New Delhi: The sports ministry of India on Wendesday wrote to International Boxing Association (AIBA) asking for leniency on banned boxer Sarita Devi, according to sources.

After refusing to accept her medal during the medal ceremony in Asian Games in South Korea, boxing’s governing body had banned the Indian boxer and suspended her coaches as well.

While the Indian boxer had apologised to AIBA, they had refused to accept her apology.
