Mumbai: Swamy Army, the group of Indian cricket fans in Australia has requested the ICC to play the special anthem on Sachin Tendulkar – written by Australian musician Phil Dye – during the forthcoming World Cup which is to be played in Australia (and New Zealand). This was revealed by the group's CEO, Gurnam Singh.

Incidentally, the Little Master Tendulkar has been announced as ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 Ambassador.

Speaking exclusively over the telephone from Sydney, Gurnam says, "We shall also request the CA (Cricket Australia) to play the song during Sydney Test next month".

Entitled ‘Sachin Tendulkar – God of Cricket’, the anthem was first written in March 2013 before being professionally recorded in time for the Tendulkar retirement in November last year.

The current bilateral series between Australia and India is the first one being played in without Sachin Tendulkar in the team after the formation of Swamy Army.

"Some fans say we don't like the game anymore because Sachin is not playing. The current Indian team has no solid batsmen", he added.

"For the Boxing Day Test, Swamy Army has several activities planned. We will be playing dhol (drums) during the match. We are going to meet outside the stadium and give flags and t-shirts to the crowd,” he added.
