Chennai: Australian players will soon be able to train on pitches that aid spinners while Indians will get to deal with bouncy surfaces in the comfort of their homes as Cricket Australia and the BCCI are in a discussion over an exchange programme for curators.

It was CA which set the ball rolling when it invited BCCI south zone curator P.R. Viswanathan, who is based in Chennai, to Australia. Viswanathan is the author of Board’s manual for preparing pitches. “They wanted an Indian type of pitch to be laid in one of their academies so that they can prepare better for tours to India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and the UAE.

Viswanathan, who has trained more than 50 curators in his capacity as the faculty of BCCI’s training programme, wrote to the BCCI for permission as he is contracted with the Board.
