2 Bodo youths lynched in western Assam’s Chirang district

Guwahati: With sporadic incidents of retaliatory violence, protests and police firing rocking the state on Wednesday, hundreds of plantation workers were forced to take shelter at Biswanth, the subdivisional headquarters.

Police said over 100 houses of people belonging to the Bodo community were set ablaze by angry mobs of plantation workers who defied curfew orders in the area.

In yet another incident in western Assam’s Chirang district, plantation workers lynched two Bodo youths to death.

The plantation workers also narrated how NDFB rebels had come in Army uniforms and asked for water before opening fire on the villagers.
