Kochi: It was a rare meeting of minds at the Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit as curators and artistes from Poland descended on the campus to interact with the faculty of the varsity and attend an international seminar.

“This is the continuation of a link which started in the 16th century. Even in the 19th century itself several Sanskrit texts were translated into Polish language.

Indian languages and literature are taught in Polish universities. I am happy that the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Republic of Poland and Polish Institute in New Delhi have taken the initiative to organise the seminar in association with the varsity,” said Vice-Chancellor of the Sanskrit University Dr M.C. Dileep Kumar.

The seminar titled ‘Critical Juncture: Looking at Indian and Polish cultural collaborations’ concludes on Tuesday. It critically reflects on the ethical issues surrounding cross-cultural collaborations and creative exchanges in a globalised market.

Speakers from the United Kingdom are also participating in the seminar. A percussion team with ‘thayambaka’ welcomed the guests to the campus while a sumptuous Kerala traditional feast was offered to them at noon. The art department of the varsity organised a painting-cum- sculpture exhibition on the occasion.

Anna Tryc-Branley, Director of Polish Cultural Institute, New Delhi, inaugurated the exhibition.

The seminar held at Kanakadhara auditorium was inaugurated by Dr Dileep Kumar. Various sessions debated the new dimensions in international cultural relations, including Indo-Polish relations in 60 years.

Curator and artist Magda Fablanczyk, Joganna Rajkowska, Julitta Wojicik, Dr Ameet Parameswaran and Dr Neelima Jayachandran spoke at different sessions.
