Feasibility study soon on Thammanam road work

Kochi: The state government has decided to carry out a feasibility study on the long-delayed Thammanam Pullepady road development project. Replying to MLA,
Hibi Eden, minister for public works V.K Ebrahim Kunju said in the Assembly that the project had been delayed for want of funds.
The widening of the road to 22 metres is expected to cost nearly Rs 263 crore, including the cost of acquiring 4.01 hectares of land.
The minister said Rs 25 crore already allocated for road development to the district collector could be used for decongesting the stretch.
The minister also recommended holding a high level meeting chaired by the Chief Minister to discuss ways to utilise the money.
The Kochi Corporation council had earlier requested the state government to take over the development of the road, which is currently seven to 10 metres wide.
