Tiger sighted at Joladalpalya in Chikkamagaluru

CHIKKAMAGALURU: Fear gripped Joladalpalya and surrounding villages of Chikkamagaluru on Tuesday after villagers saw pugmarks of a tiger at some of the estates.

It is said that a tiger was sighted in an estate belonging to Rudre Gowda at Joladalpalya, around 12 km from Chikkamagaluru on Monday night and again it was sighted on Tuesday morning around 8.30 am. The villagers burst crackers to chase the animal away.

The villagers saw the pugmarks in spots that had turned wet after the sprinklers for the estate had been turned on.

Forest officials visited the spot and stated a search for the tiger. Joladalpalya villagers are scared that the animal could attack people if not trapped soon.

Memories are still fresh of the tiger that was trapped in Chikkamagaluru after it killed a woman at Pundaravalli village a couple of months back.

The tiger was translocated to Khanapur forest where it attacked and killed two people. The tiger was shot dead on Sunday night.
