Bengaluru on ‘red alert’ on social networking sites

Bengaluru: Bengaluru on Red Alert? Messages that did the rounds on the popular Whatsapp put the city on edge on Tuesday, with rumour-mongers claiming that public places, especially schools, like in Pakistan, would be targeted come Wednesday.
The Whatsapp chain messages said Chinnaswamy Stadium, Koramangala and some educational institutions would be targeted and that the city would be on red alert on Wednesday.
However, firmly rubbishing rumours of any threat to the city, Bengaluru Police Commissioner
M.N. Reddi took to Twitter to urge Bengalureans not to pay heed to such messages, while leaving nothing to chance, deployed over 4,000 police on the streets to avoid any untoward incident.
