NIZAMABAD: State election commissioner V. Nagi Reddy on Thursday reviewed pre- and post-electoral process details with district officials here and said the electoral new software was developed to get fast and comprehensive details of any elections.
The software would simplify the voter’s electoral role and enable the voter to get information of contesting candidates, affidavits and other details, he said.
District collector Yogita Rana, in-charge police commissioner B.K. Rahul Hegde, mayor Akula Sujatha, district panchayat officer Krishna Murthy and others met the election commissioner.
Mr Nagi Reddy said notices should be served to contesting candidates, if they fail to submit election expenditure details to officials within 45 days of the elections. Further action would be initiated against the errant candidates after issuing of notices as per election code of conduct, he said.
Of the 771 contested candidates in Nizamabad Municipal Corporaiton elections, only 570 candidates submitted the election expenditure details, the commissioner said. In Bodhan municipality, notices were issued to 116 candidates, he said.
The candidates should submit details to the district collector/election officer and municipal commissioners concerned within a week, he said. The election commissioner inquired about maintenance and safety of electronic voting machines in the district. He also directed panchayat wing officials to set up election cells in all major towns in the district. DRO Padmakar, RDO P. Yadi Reddy, municipal commissioners and others were present.
