Hyderabad: The Rs 4.5-lakh flag that was ordered from Dubai for the second tallest flag pole in the country at Sanjeevaiah Park is covered with black marks on the white portion of the Tricolour. The marks apparently started developing during transportation from the Dubai-based Channel Group International to Hyderabad. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) officials had planned to have it washed in the city but backed out fearing that the colour might run as also the criticism that might follow.
An official said the flag had been returned to the company which had been asked to deliver it in three months. The HMDA has 10 flags, of which two have not been used so far. The HMDA has placed an order for three more flags with an Indian agency.
