Two resolutions against Neet, for jallikattu passed

Puducherry: The Puducherry legislative assembly on Wednesday unanimously adopted a resolution seeking an exemption for the Union Territory from the National Entrance and Eligibility Test (Neet). Another resolution was adopted urging the Centre to permit Puducherry to enact a legislation to conduct jallikattu every year without any hindrance.

The Chief Minister said the students will severely be affected as the Neet is conducted as per the CBSE syllabus which is entirely different from the state board syllabus. The two resolutions were passed by voice vote.

Puducherry Legislative assembly also passed the Puducherry Protection of Interest of Depositors in Financial Establishments (Amendment) Bill 2017, Puducherry Civil Courts (Amendment) Bill 2017 and the Puducherry Value Added Tax (Amendment ) Bill 2017 by voice vote.

Moving the bill, the CM said that the bill would envisage the speedy recovery of the money of the depositors from the now defunct agencies, and would take steps through the District Collectors to get back their deposit. The House adjourned sine die after a two-day winter session.
