Telangana: Centre to fund facelifts of 2 hospitals

Hyderabad: Two medical colleges in Telangana — Kakatiya Medical College, Warangal and RIMS (Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences) are set to receive a major makeover with the help from the Centre. The two colleges will be getting nearly Rs 50 crore fund under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana.

The Centre has decided to upgrade 39 colleges in the country including the two colleges from Telangana. The facelifts will involve strengthening of existing departments as well as building super-speciality blocks, trauma centres and other facilities.

The PMSSY was announced in the August of 2003 with an objective of correcting imbalances in the availability of affordable and reliable tertiary-level healthcare in the country.
