Senior Congress legislator D K Aruna slams KCR for not inducting women in team

Hyderabad: Slamming Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for not inducting women into the State Cabinet during expansion, senior Congress legislator and former minister D.K. Aruna said that it was strange and demanded that the Chief Minister explain why he could not choose at least a single woman minister in the first Cabinet of the new Telangana State.

“During the YSR regime, there were six women ministers. Out of this, five were from the Telangana region. But it is strange that even after six months, Mr KCR did not choose a single woman minister and it only indicates that he is anti-women,” said a displeased Aruna.

She said there were several women legislators in the TRS and that they there are capable of being ministers. “How can you judge that women legislators cannot be made ministers?,” said Ms Aruna. Despite the CM’s statements on women safety and security, she said his decision to exclude women for Cabinet positions was inexplicable.
