Congress in trouble over Nilesh Rane’s conversion tweet

Mumbai: The Congress, which is fighting the BJP over religious conversion, found itself in an embarrassing situation of Tuesday on same issue.
Former Congress MP Nilesh Rane has said on microblogging site Twitter that India should convert as many people as possible to Hinduism in order to prevent incidents like the one in Sydney.
His reference was to the siege at a cafe in Sydney, Australia, on Monday in which three people died.
Interestingly, this was not just a one-off tweet by Mr Rane, whose father Narayan Rane is one of the top Congress leaders in Maharashtra and brother Nitesh is a sitting Congress MLA.
Last week, he had expressed his disagreement over the issue of conversion being raised in Parliament. “If someone wants to convert to Hinduism then what’s the problem… this issue should not be used for politics!!” he tweeted.
The Congress has distanced itself from Mr Rane’s remarks.
