Hyderabad: The Survey of India will map the river Ganga at an estimated cost of Rs 542 crores as part of Modi government’s 'Namami Gange' project.

This will allow the government to pinpoint sources of pollution along the course of the river. Surveyor-General of India, Swarna Subba Rao said, the mapping can be completed in one-and-half years.

“To clean Ganga, you need to know where the pollution is originating. For that you need a large-scale survey and that responsibility is given to Survey of India,” he said.
