Hyderabad: Victim lost money in online trading

Hyderabad: Police found three demat accounts being operated in the names of Prabhakar Reddy and his aunt K. Lakshmi, whose bodies were found on Tuesday, and her husband K. Ravinder Reddy.

Though prima facie inquiries revealed that financial issues are behind the suicide of Prabhaker, his wife Madhavi and son Varshith, the reason behind the death of Lakshmi and her daughter Sindhuja remains a mystery.

Inquiries revealed that Prabhakar Reddy had started trading in shares a few years ago and had done well. He encouraged his family members, relatives and friends to invest in online trading. While some participated, others kept their distance from him.

Prabhakar Reddy’s father Mahipal Reddy had reportedly warned him to stop online trading.

It was found that Ravinder Reddy and Lakshmi had lent Rs 50 lakh to Prabhakar Reddy and they had mortgaged their house for Rs 30 lakh and had given the money to Prabhakar Reddy.

“When they saw good returns, they also invested Rs 70 lakh in online trading, which they got by selling a flat in Shankar nagar. It is suspected that Prabhakar Reddy had of late run up huge losses, amounting to crores of rupees, in the business.
