Hyderabad: The police have arrested Rabbani and his brother Samdani for allegedly attacking the residents of Jilani Midas Apartments in DD Colony in Amberpet. They were remanded on Monday.

Inspector P. Venkata Ramana said Rabbani and his brother Samdani and their sister are landowners of the apartment in DD Colony. Samdani also owns a flat in the complex. Recently Samdani started constructing an illegal structure in the cellar of the apartment, which was opposed by other residents.

On Sunday, there was an argument with residents and the accused attacked them.

CPM leader Thamineni Veerabhadram's wife Uma was injured in the attack.

Following the incident Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation officials rushed to the spot and demolished the illegal structure.

Meanwhile, East Zone DCP V. Ravinder said the police have taken the issue seriously. “We are also examining opening a rowdy sheet on Rabbani,” said Mr Ravinder, Rabbani was involved in criminal cases earlier.

There was a protest in the apartment complex and the police station demanding action against the accused.
