KARIMNAGAR /ADILABAD: The gap between the common people and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan has increased as he has distanced himself from the public. The actor-turned-politician has refrained from meeting the public for a long time now, in fact soon after he visited Adilabad in 2009 during the Praja Rajyam party days.
In the intervening years, he had never tried to meet the people of north Telangana. Neither did he attend any cultural events in these areas. Sometime back, he had helped to dig up a borewell in an interior village in Sungapur village in Narnoor mandal. Now the people of that area are recalling his visit and asking political activists about when he would be visiting them next. This was when they got to know from the media that he was in Karimnagar.
Mr Pawan Kalyan visited the interior Sungapur village in Narnoor mandal in the then integrated Adilabad district in 2009 after his brother Chiranjeevi floated the Praja Rajyam party. He had also visited Kagaznagar and Boath mandals along with many other places in the Adilabad during his padayatra.
Mr Pawan Kalyan had got an overwhelming response from the people of Adilabad. In fact Adivasis had started admiring him and this doubled when his Komaram Puli movie Adivasi legendary Kumaram Bheem was released.
On seeing the drinking water problems faced by the local Adivasis, Mr Pawan Kalyan installed a borewell on the request of the local people for drinking water purposes. The lone borewell he established really worked well and the Adivasis were extremely happy with him.
Now, he appealed to his supporters and Jana Sena activists to fight for a corruption-free society as they had fought to achieve a separate Telangana state. He said his politics was for the next 25 years and not just for 2019 elections. He added that there were inequalities among the BC communities and economic empowerment was needed to eradicate these inequalities.
He added that he would unite all the castes. He told the activists that he respected Telangana culture, language and Telangana dialect and had used them in his films. He added that Telangana gave him the platform to do full-fledged politics and added that his party would contest in the 2019 elections.
